Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of journalism, legal and ethical standards of journalism, and news writing.

Performance Standard: The learner writes a clear, accurate, and meaningful news story.

Lesson 1:  Discuss the types and functions of journalism

Lesson 2: Discuss specific provisions of RA 7079 or the Campus Journalism Act of                         1991

Lesson  3: Evaluate newspaper articles and ethical dilemmas or scenarios based on                       ethical standards

Lesson  4: Observe intellectual property rights through proper attributions/citations     

                   of sources

Lesson 5: Establish the angle of a news story by focusing on (a) specific element(s)

Lesson  6: Write conventional and novelty leads

Lesson  7: Observe proper techniques and standards in writing a straight news about                    a school or community event

Lesson  8: Observe proper techniques and standards in writing  a  news feature about                    a school or community event

Lesson 9: Compose a news story based on the gathered facts from a speech
